The August meeting of NORPAC was a potluck picnic at the home of Santa Ernie and Ginny Walker at 8 Creekwood Lane SW, Lakewood, WA 98499. We gathered at 12:00 noon and there were 32 Santas and Mrs. Clauses, plus two Waltos elves. Following a barbeque, lots of wonderful food, and great visiting, Co-president Dennis Simpson called us together at approx. 1:25 PM for some general announcements and updates.
NORPAC Windbreakers. Several people tried on the sample windbreakers that Dennis brought. He announced that those still wanting to order jackets need to send payment ($35.00 per jacket) to Dennis Gorley along with the size(s) being ordered. Once requests and payment for at least 5 or 6 windbreakers have been received, Dennis S. will place the next order.
NORPAC Santa Sleigh. Dennis showed us a photo of the NORPAC sleigh that is being worked on by Santa Randy Cook. We all agreed that it’s coming along nicely.
Santa Visits to Ireland. Santa Jerry Nebel has been doing Christmas visits over the internet via Skype with children in Ireland. His schedule won’t permit him to continue with this for 2015, but if others may be interested, Jerry encouraged them to give him a call to discuss the particulars. Jerry’s phone number is 206-941-6571.
Conference at Great Wolf Lodge. The conference will take place at the GWL on Nov. 5-7, 2015. The Executive Committee has met to begin planning the details and Dennis S. reported that “things are coming together.” The schedule will be similar to last year’s conference. Entertainment has been booked, we’re working at contacting speakers, and potential vendors will be contacted soon. We hope to have another “healthy Santa” session, and we are planning a roundtable session on “How to Utilize Mrs. Claus Most Effectively.”
Jerry Nebel announced that there’s interest by the Public Broadcasting Station in doing some filming at the conference. Dennis said we’d need to work out the details/logistics of such filming with the GWL.
As in past years, there will again be an ornament exchange, as well as the raffle of gift baskets and other items. Dennis S. asked that we let him know if we’re planning to donate an item for the raffle, and also to let him know if we might have items to contribute to the welcome gift bags.
Adjournment. This informal meeting adjourned at approx. 1:50 PM and we then gathered near the creek (and a few in the creek) for group photos.
