Greetings. Dennis S. called the general meeting to order at 1:15 PM and welcomed everyone present. Attending were 52 Santas, Mrs. Clauses, and other guests.
Santa and Mrs. Claus Oath. These were led by Trever Waltos and Tracey Galland.
Introductions. We welcomed guests Santa Ed and Cheryl Stanley.
Minutes of Previous Meeting. Minutes from our previous meeting at Panorama City on June 4th were available and have been on the NORPAC website. The minutes will be considered approved as printed.
Treasurer’s Report was shared by Dennis Gorley.
YTD Revenue = $3,185.03
YTD Expenditures = $1,728.34
46 members are in good standing with current Background Check on file.
23 members have purchased Background Checks through NORPAC.
Bank Balance as of Aug. 1, 2016 is $3,807.47 ($430.86 in Savings, $3,326.61 in Checking, and $50.00 in Cash).
Guest Speakers.
Jess Martin, Event Coordinator for Mt. Rainier Railroad, told us about the “Polar Express” train that will be running between Elbe and Mineral this year from Nov. 18 through Dec. 29. The train will depart at 3:30, 5:30 and 7:30 PM each evening. It’s expected that 30-40,000 families may “Experience the Magic” of this experience. Jess signed up several of the NORPAC Santas to work some of the shifts. She also announced that auditions for a variety of the other Polar Express roles will occur in Mineral on Aug. 31. Barbara Colburn, SantaLand Chairwoman, told us about the upcoming 30th annual “Festival of Trees,” a huge fundraiser for Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital. This will take place at the Tacoma Convention Center on Thurs.-Sun., Dec. 1-4. Barbara is seeking some volunteer Santas to help with this event. The “Festival of Trees” has a great website with contact information regarding this event.

Discover Santa Dennis S., Jerry, and Trever all shared some of the highlights of attending the recent Discover Santa conference in Branson.
Mariners’ Game Bob Partlow reported that 6 Santas and Elf Marty had a great time attending a recent Seattle Mariners game. He hopes this will occur next year and anticipates “growing” this event.
New Day Randy and Jerry reported on 6 of us attending a recent taping of “King New Day Northwest” TV show in Seattle. We received a lot of “face time” during the program and managed to convey the message of the importance of booking early for Santa events.
Rainiers Game 53 tickets were sold for last Sunday’s Tacoma Rainiers game. A highlight was the Conga Line in which the Santas participated.
7th Annual Northwest Santa Workshop Dennis S. and others shared some details of the upcoming (Nov. 3-5) conference. Those planning to attend were encouraged to get their registrations completed and their room reservations made.
Sleigh Update Randy reported that the sleigh will hopefully be completed and ready for display at the conference in November. He’s needing help from someone who can transport it to the conference, and is also looking for a place to store the sleigh so that he can
use his garage again.
Santa Claus Conservatory Randy also gave a good plug for Santa Ed Taylor’s “Santa Claus Conservatory” of which Randy is a member. He highly recommends Ed’s training for both “sitting” or “performing” santas and announced that if he wins the membership drive currently underway, that he’ll donate the prize of a “Santa’s Workshop” photo backdrop to NORPAC.

Happy Birthday Karen Hayes announced that it was Santa Eddie’s 80th birthday today and we celebrated by singing to Eddie and enjoying the birthday cake that Karen had brought.
50/50 Drawing. Dennis G. announced that $157.00 had been collected. Steve Collier held the winning ticket. Steve kept $20.00 (the amount he’d spent on 50/50 tickets) and donated the balance of his winnings, $58.50, to NORPAC.
