The August 3rd meeting of NORPAC Santas took place at the home of Ernie and Ginny Walker in Lakewood, WA. Folks began gathering at noon and there followed much visiting, a wonderful potluck meal, and more visiting.Greetings . Trever Waltos called the meeting to order at 1:37 PM. He thanked Ernie and Ginny for once again opening their beautiful home and yard to NORPAC’s annual summer picnic.
There were 34 people in attendance including Santas, Mrs. Clauses, and friends of NORPAC Treasurer’s Report Prior to today’s meeting, Dennis Gorley had submitted his Treasurer’s Report to the NORPAC Board showing that as of Aug. 2, 2019, NORPAC had a balance of $9,182.01 ($432.07 in Savings, $8,699.94 in Checking, and $50.00 in Petty Cash). Membership stands at 76 with 30 of those having secured background checks through NORPAC.

      Minutes.
Trever pointed out that NORPAC meeting minutes are promptly posted on the NORPAC website following each meeting. Members are encouraged to access the minutes at any time.

10th Annual Northwest Santa Workshop .
This NORPAC sponsored conference will take place Oct. 4-5, 2019, at Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound. Information regarding workshop
registration and room reservations will be sent out in the next few days. Registration cost and room costs remain the same as last year. It’s anticipated that room reservations may be made beginning Aug 9 th. This year’s planning committee has made some changes for this year’s workshop. Since our attendance at the workshop has grown, this year’s “meet and greet” on Thursday for those who arrive that afternoon/evening will be in the NORPAC conference room. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served for an hour beginning at 6:00 PM.
Another change will be that on Friday evening (Oct. 4th) a special dinner and gala are being planned from 6:00-9:00 PM. We’ll celebrate this being NORPAC’s 10th annual Santa Workshop and recognize the founders of NORPAC. There will be a charge of $40/person to cover
the cost of the meal for those planning to attend this event.

      Scholarships .
NORPAC’s Board has approved offering two scholarships of $300 each to assist two NORPAC members to attend the Santa Workshop. That amount is the approximate cost of the workshop registration, one night at the GWL, and the gala dinner for an individual.
Information will be e-mailed shortly to NORPAC members regarding the scholarship application process.

      NORPAC Board Elections
Trever reminded everyone that the NORPAC Board elections will take
place at the NORPAC meeting next February. All four positions (Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer) will be on the ballot. NORPAC members may nominate themselves for one of these positions or may nominate another member with that individual’s permission. Nominations should be sent to Bob Partlow at santabobpartlow@gmail.com
After they’re elected, the new board will decide whether they want to appoint additional “at large” membersto the board.

      Misc .
Chuck Parrish shared that he’s recently attended an excellent Santa Claus training in Minneapolis presented by “The Claus Brothers” (Santas Leon McBryde and Steve Gillham), and that he’d recommend NORPAC help bring their workshop to our area. Trever responded that
these gentlemen do their own booking, arrangements, etc. If they choose to put on a workshop in the Northwest, NORPAC would certainly publicize that information to its membership (as we
do, for example, when Santa Tim Connaghan brings his “Behind the Red Suit, The Business of Santa” workshop to our area).
Dennis Simpson is planning to attend the IBRBS National Conference in Atlanta next April and asked if others were going. Dale Scott and Chuck Parrish indicated that they are planning to. Maureen Weisser shared that the “Forgotten Children’s Fund Volunteer BBQ” will take place on Aug. 17th at the M Bar C Ranch on Whidbey Island beginning at 12:00 noon. Ron Kearns asked if anyone knew of a good local seamstress who could make a new Santa suit.
Trever recommended Karla who works at Quality Cleaners in Sumner.

      50/50 Drawing
Dennis Gorley said that $140 had been collected for the 50/50 drawing. The winning ticket was drawn, and the lucky winner of $70 dollars was………Dennis Gorley. Congratulations Dennis!

Trever adjourned the meeting at 2:00 PM after which the Santas gathered for a group photo.
      Respectfully submitted,
      Dale Scott, Secretary
