NORPAC’s Exec. Board met at the home of Santa Ernie and Ginny Walker in Lakewood, WA on Aug. 3, 2019. Trever Waltos called the meeting to order at 10:22 AM. Board members present in addition to
Trever included Randy Cook, Jerry Galland, Dennis Gorley, Gene Sanders and Dale Scott. Upcoming NORPAC Conference . NORPAC’s 10th Annual Northwest Santa Workshop will take place at Great Wolf Lodge on Aug. 4-5, 2019. Trever reported that as in past years, the GWL is making 7 suites available to NORPAC at the discounted rate of $102/night (plus taxes, etc.). Board members Trever, Gene, Dale, Dennis, and Jerry expressed interest in these suites. The Board agreed to offer the other two suites to Jerry Nebel and Jim Beidle both of whom are planning committee members and presenters. Rooms will be available to other NORPAC members at the same rate as last year, $129/night (plus taxes, etc.).
Workshop registration forms and information about booking rooms will be e-mailed in the next few days. Room reservations may be made beginning Aug. 9th . It was also agreed that Board members and workshop presenters would be offered free registration again this year. There will be no “single day” registrations this year and no registration refunds will be given after Sept.26.
Thursday’s “Meet and Greet” ”Because we’ve outgrown the ability to comfortably host a “hospitality room” in a member’s room, Thursday evening’s “meet and greet” social time for those who arrive on
Oct. 3rd will take place in the NORPAC conference room beginning at 6:00 PM. Light hors oeuvres will be served.
Scholarships.
NORPAC’s Board approved awarding two scholarships to a pair of NORPAC members. Each scholarship will be for $300 which will cover most of the cost of the workshop registration, one night’s
room, and the gala dinner on Friday evening. Information regarding the scholarships will be e-mailed to NORPAC members shortly. Jerry Galland and Gene Sanders will be this year’s scholarship committee.
Workshop Program. Dale has volunteered to prepare the workshop program. Trever will send Dale templates from last year’s program.
NORPAC Elections.
Per the NORPAC By-laws, election of Board members will occur at the NORPAC meeting next February. Known Board vacancies at this time include Chairman, Vice Chairman, and
Secretary. Dennis Gorley has been nominated to continue as Treasurer if re-elected. After the new board is elected, they will decide whether they wish to appoint “at large” Board members. NORPAC members may nominate another NORPAC member (with permission) or may nominate themselves for a Board position. Nominations should be sent to Bob Partlow at santabobpartlow@gmail.com
Thank you to Santa Ernie and Ginny.Treasurer Dennis Gorley gave Ernie a check today for $75 to say “thank you” from NORPAC for hosting today’s picnic and to help with the expenses.
