Minutes of Executive Board Meeting:
The executive board met at 10:30 AM. Attending were Jerry Galland, Dennis Gorley, Gene Sanders, Dale Scott, and Trever Waltos.
Scholarship. Jerry updated the group concerning the two scholarships (each for $250) that NORPAC has decided to make available this year to help two of our members to attend the upcoming conference at the Great Wolf Lodge. To date, two applications have been received. The deadline is Aug. 8, 2018. Jerry and Dale will review applications received by that date and the recipients will be announced.
9th Annual Northwest Santa Conference. Trever reviewed the tentative program agenda he has developed for the conference on Oct. 4-6, 2018. These include:
Your Brothers & Sisters in Red ~ Randy Cook
Effective Use of the NORPAC Website ~ Trever
Basic Social Media Marketing ~ Michelle McCarty
Video Peer Review ~ Gene, Randy, & Trever
After the Event Customer Service ~ Randy
Basic Makeup ~ Michelle
Santa Claus Podcast Recording ~ Jonathan Burton & Trever
Professional Vocal Training ~ Kirby Taylor
Most of these are new presentations that have not been part of previous NORPAC conferences. Another new element will be professional Santa photos to be taken on Friday evening by Catherine Cryder.
Jerry raised some concern about how the topics were selected and whether we are honoring the feedback received in previous conference evaluations. Discussion followed. There are several new topics this year which we hope will entice some increased attendance, and the agenda (particularly on Friday afternoon) has been modified in response to evaluation feedback. The timing of this year’s conference (a month earlier than in the past) is also reflective of evaluation input. Trever encouraged everyone to continue making contacts and suggestions for future conference presentations.
Treasurer’s Report. Dennis reviewed the treasurer’s report which he’d sent to each of us a few days ago. This information is included below in the minutes for the general meeting.
Misc. Gene encourages those who accept bookings advertised through the NORPAC website to let the membership know as those jobs are filled.
Dale will order 3 dozen additional “gift bags” for use at the conference. He will also make contact with a source through whom we hope to order additional NORPAC ballpoint pens.
Dennis shared that 3 of the magnetic name tags have been ordered for those who wanted them, and that an additional orders of NORPAC jackets has been placed on hold for lack of sufficient demand at this time. Dennis also reported that 23 of 25 tickets had been sold for the recent Rainiers baseball game, but that only a handful of Santas had attended. We discussed likely not doing this again next year because interest seems to have waned after several years.
Executive board meeting adjourned at 11:45 AM.
