General Meeting – Minutes

Several members attended the first in-person meeting of 2021.
Board members in attendance were Russell Albright ll, Dennis Gorley, Mark DeMonbrun, Dennis Simpson and Jerry Galland.
Ron Kearns was out of town.
Russell called the meeting to order at 12:20pm
Dennis Gorley gave the treasurers report. Account balance is $14,231.29. Estimated revenues for the conference will balance out based on 70 people attending.
Russell thanked Ernie and Ginnie for their generous hospitality is having NORPAC to their house, then introduced Jim Beidle, our IBRBS representative, to give a report on recent changes.
-By an 85% approval vote, the IBRBS bylaws were updated to reflect several procedural changes.
-School scholarships of $250 are available, and Mark DeMonbrun received one for 2021, using it to attend the School of Santa in Branson, Missouri.
-Higher Education scholarships for any member, or a family member, are also offered, with application period ending July 31st, so keep that in mind a we look at 2022.
-The IBRBS Santa’s Heart Award program, recognizing volunteer work as Santa, had over 300 applicants, totaling over 70,000 volunteer and reduced rate hours for 2020.

Sharing updated information about the annual conference, October 1st and 2nd, Santa Dennis Gorley reminded everyone that The Brothers Claus and Elvis, Danny Vernon, will be there and we have 9 singles and 16 couples currently signed up.
Registration is limited and opens to the general public on August 15th, so be sure to register now to save your seat.
The board had previously approved a motion to amend the NORPAC-Santas bylaws to have continuity on the board.
A motion passed by the board unanimously to amend the bylaws for officer elections to specify Vice president and Treasurer positions would be up for election in even numbered years. President and Secretary up for election in odd numbered years. For 2022 election, VP and Treasurer will be one year terms to create stagger.
Being a bylaws change, this will need to be approved by a majority vote at the next general meeting.
With upcoming board elections, Bob Partlow was introduced as our election director. Please let him know if you would like to serve on the board, or if you would like to nominate someone.

Some current board members expressed that they would not be seeking re-election.
Bob Partlow also is our focal for the Toys For Kids foundation and announced that the Christmas in August (Formerly Christmas in July) event with the Seattle Mariners is scheduled for August 31st and asked if any members were interested in participating. There are 20 spaces available. This is a great opportunity to be Santa in the summer, go to a Mariners game, and help out a wonderful charity.
Joe Neilson lead us in The Santa Claus oath, and Glena Gorley lead us in the Mrs. Claus Oath.
Russell adjourned the meeting as 12:45pm and we all enjoyed a catered meal by Carr’s Restaurant & Catering of Lakewood, WA.
