Minutes of General Membership Meeting:
Following a delicious potluck meal, bar-b-que, and much socializing, Trever called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM. Attending were 31 people including Santas, Mrs. Clauses, and friends of NORPAC.
Greetings. Trever welcomed everyone and extended NORPAC’s thanks to Ernie and Ginny for opening their beautiful home and yard again for today’s picnic. Trever also included special greetings to Santa Cameron Stewart and wife Alyse Axford who’d driven down from Bellingham.
Meal Blessing. Gene gave a blessing for our time together and for the meal we had just enjoyed.
Santa & Mrs. Claus Oaths. Dan Bartel led the Santa Claus oath and Karen Hayes led the Mrs. Claus oath.
Introductions. No new attendees today.
Minutes. Dale pointed out that NORPAC minutes are promptly posted on the website, and that the most recent minutes included there are for an exec. board meeting on May 30th, the general membership meeting on June 2nd, and another exec. board meeting on June 25th. Trever added that all of NORPAC’s meeting minutes are posted, going back several years.
Treasurer’s Report. Dennis shared that as of Aug. 1, NORPAC’s treasury balance was $9,872.04 consisting of $431.83 in Savings, $9,440.21 in Checking, and $50.00 in Petty Cash.
We have 58 paid members and there are 15 members from 2017 who have not paid yet this year. We were reminded that Membership and Background Checks can be paid for by using the PayPal link on NORPAC’s website.
Santa True’s Christmas Performer Workshop last June resulted in a net of $1,707.48 for NORPAC. That net led to the board’s decision to offer a pair of $250 scholarships for the upcoming conference at Great Wolf Lodge.
To date, 5 individuals, 7 couples, and 3 guests are registered for the Northwest Santa Conference.
Reports. Trever reviewed the tentative agenda for the 9th Annual Northwest Santa Conference to be held this year on Oct. 4-6 at the Great Wolf Lodge. (Please see the minutes above from today’s exec. board meeting for greater details).
Old Business.
Bob Partlow reported on the recent Mariner’s game which several of our members attended. Santa photos were taken with children and families and several hundred dollars in donations were raised for Rick Rizzs’ Toys for Kids program.
New Business.
Jerry shared the Santa Heart Award he has recently received from IBRBS. IBRBS asks members each year to document their volunteer Santa hours and Jerry believes he received the award this year based primarily on his work on behalf of the Forgotten Children program which he supports.
Dale reviewed the requirements for anyone wanting to apply for the newly established NORPAC scholarships, and reminded everyone that the deadline to apply is Wednesday, August 8th.
Dan shared that he’s recently attended training on how to respond to an “active shooter” situation and suggested that this would be a good topic for NORPAC to consider for a future workshop or training session. Dan also suggested that he’d like NORPAC to include some specific training on some topic as a “take away” from each of our general membership meetings.
Michele Simpson suggested that in addition to the scholarships we have begun to offer for Santa training, that we also consider establishing a scholarship for a NORPAC member’s child or family member to pursue further education.
50/50 Raffle. Dennis G. shared that $100 had been collected for the 50/50 drawing. Heidi Waltos had the winning ticket and collected $50.00.
Trever adjourned the meeting at 2:20 PM and this was followed by group pictures.
Respectfully submitted,
Dale Scott, NORPAC Secretary
