The Executive Committee of NORPAC Santas met beginning at 11:00 AM in the restaurant of Panorama City. Present were Santas Dennis Simpson, Dennis Gorley, Ron Kearns, Trever Waltos, Gene Sanders, Jerry Galland, and Dale Scott.
Great Wolf Lodge/Fall Conference. Dennis S. recommended (and the rest of the group concurred) with renewing of our contract with the GWL in order to hold our annual conference there on Nov. 5-7, 2015. The prices for the conference facilities will be approx. the same as in 2014, with a small increase in room rates. Dennis will also request a “courtesy hold” hoping to lock in rates for 2016, those dates being Nov. 3-5, 2016. As we began discussing specifics of the 2015 conference, it was decided to hold a special meeting of the Executive Committee specifically for that purpose. This will be a breakfast meeting at 9:00 AM on July 11, 2015, at Elmers Restaurant, 7427 S. Hosmer St., Tacoma 98408.
Santa Sleigh. Dennis S., Ron, and Randy Cook met and came up with plans for restoring an old sleigh that will be available as a special photo prop for NORPAC events or for use for a specific event by a NORPAC Santa. The voc. class @ S. Kitsap HS has cleaned up the metal runners and frame for the sleigh. Trever moved (Dennis G. 2nded) that we authorize expenditure of up to $500 for purchase of new plywood, paint, and other materials that may be needed for this project. Motion passed unanimously. The sleigh is currently at Randy’s home in Enumclaw.
Gordon Bailey’s Santa School. Trever is in frequent touch with Gordon and reports that 15 Santas need to register in order for Gordon to do his workshop in this area. About half that many have registered so far. The training is scheduled from 9:00 AM –5:00 PM on July 24-25, 2015, at Lakewood New Hope Community Church of the Nazarene (address: 9308 Meadow Rd. SW, Lakewood 98499). Gordon plans to stay and attend the Rainiers game with us on July 26th and we agreed that NORPAC would cover the cost of his ticket.
Executive Board Nominations. Dennis S. reminded us that we’ll need to appoint a nominations committee to select candidates for the Exec. Board of NORPAC. We agreed that November would be soon enough to establish the committee. Dennis also said he’d send out an e-mail asking who may be interested in running for an Executive Board position. Per our by-laws, nominations can be made on or before Jan. 15th with elections to be held at our Feb. meeting next year.
Cooling Vest. Ron has a cooling vest that he’s not using and would like to sell. Contact Ron Kearns if interested.
Executive Committee meeting ended at 11:58 AM.
