As we are all sequestered to our homes, keeping safe and trying to stay healthy. Some of us may be missing the interaction among the rest of the local santa claus community. At our last meeting it was suggested that we hold a virtual get together via Zoom. I have a professional license and can host up to 100 participants without any problems. What are people’s thoughts on that? Would you like to hold a virtual get together to share amongst each other?
Let us know your thoughts
April 2, 2020 at 2:56 am #2005I guess I should tell everyone, that replying to the email notification is one thing. I can see those (because I was the one that created this post), but the point of a discussion forum is so that everyone can see the reply. So rather than just hitting “reply” on the email notification. Please click on the link in the notification (the link next to the words: Topic Link), login to the website, navigate to the Message Board, and then click on reply. That way everyone sees your replies. 🙂
The purpose or objective behind a virtual get-together is just that. To gather as Santas of Norpac to share stories with each other. To keep each other in high-spirits, and to do virtually what we would normally do at our general meetings, learn from each other. Pass on new information and just see each other. In these times where we are all physically apart to stay healthy, have interactions with others is such a vital role to our own mental health and well-being. And besides taking a group shot will be a LOT easier, and I doubt any other IBRBS chapter has done one. So posting our big virtual group shot will be a lot of fun!

April 2, 2020 at 10:31 am #2009I have done something like this but haven’t used Zoom? Could give it a try Just a matter of sorting out a date and time
April 2, 2020 at 11:36 am #2013We should do it. There is a possibility that come the season, technology like this will be one of the only ways Santa will be able to visit and we should be getting skilled up bringing Santa via new means. Can you Zoom,Skype, FaceTime, What’s Up etc? Can you make a video on your phone and or computer and text or email it? What backdrops will I have. How do I look and sound? Is your email account able to send a video size file? I have Comcast and can’t.
Time to start talking about it and more.
Stay well Brothers & Sisters

April 2, 2020 at 12:08 pm #2020Yes, most definitely! We have the means and our new Vice President has the knowledge and the means to make it happen! Because, I am excited to share with everyone about how Norpac Santa’s are going forward and some of the exciting things we still have planned and what is coming down the line in the near future!
HO HO HO MERRY CHRISTMAS AND REMEMBER “IN THE EYES OF CHILDREN YOU THE JOY OF CHRISTMAS BUT IN THE HEARTS OF CHILDREN YOU SEE THE TRUE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS”!!!
April 3, 2020 at 10:18 am #2025I think that Russell started the discussion on this. Not sure. I was lukewarm at first; saw Jerry’s comments. Changed my mind. While there will be some particular benefits for this year, long term benefits of getting “skilled up” can only help the individual Santa when considering other possibilities. For now, if we are talking about business, I expect that more Santas would attend because they would not have to travel. While in attendance, less Santas are likely to participate because that is how those things work. Still, they would still receive whatever information that is imparted and have the opportunity to participate if desired. It would allow for people to type in their thoughts if they prefer…or someone can offer a website that they recommend, etc, etc. This year, we may find that it works well for some purposes and not for others. Experience will tell the tale. So….yes to the idea!
April 3, 2020 at 3:00 pm #2026I think this would be a great idea. Mrs C and I agree with Jerry and the topics he recommends
April 17, 2020 at 4:36 pm #2038Hello Santas (and Mrs Clauses, Elves and Grinches):
As most of us are sequestered in our homes for our own health and safety, we as a board thought it would be fun to do a virtual get together. Making sure that everyone is staying safe and healthy, and to share stories to help us through this period of time. Our first ever virtual get together is set for May 2nd @ 10am. This will be handled by Zoom Meetings. You can join by computer (Mac, Windows, Linux), Android, iPhone, iPad, tablet, Chromebook, etc. If you plan to show up, please go to our facebook page and mark yourself as ‘going’ to this event.
This will be a lot of fun! Hope to see you all there! (We will even take a ‘photo’ to post to our facebook page, just don’t blink!)
If you have any questions, let us know on the forum. Hope to see you all there!
